On May 15, O Melro’s producers of the West zone, Alentejo and Setúbal visited the Herdade da Godinha in Campo Maior.
This visit had the objective to make known to the producers the farm in Alentejo where the main products produced are Pera Rocha and stone fruit.
The farmers were able to know the farm and the way in which it is managed. From the oldest orchards to the new plantations, visitors and hosts visited the farm in its entirety. It was possible to know the main problems with regard to diseases and pests and also saw some innovative machines acquired by O Melro for weed control.
The Eng. João Abreu, field technician responsible for Godinha’s farm, presented an estimate of the production of the upcoming campaign and the start date of the harvests, as a way to adjust the logistics of the crops between the Alentejo and the West.
The end of the visit to the Homestead was followed by a lunch meeting where producers, directors and employees of the O Melro were able to enjoy the good gastronomy of Alentejo.
